Turkmenistan has launched its first combined-cycle gas power plant, according to state news agency TDH.

The 1.6 GW plant in Mary province has four 263.5 MW GE gas turbines, two 260 MW steam turbines and four heat-recovery boilers.

The plant is Central Asia’s biggest combined-cycle plant and will work in tandem with the Mary hydropower plant.
