Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan registers 4 presidential candidates Political and military events
IIKSS - The Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan registered 4 candidates to run in the presidential elections scheduled for February 12, 2017, the state news agency of Turkmenistan said.
Incumbent President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov was registered first as a candidate for president from the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan.
Vice Chairman of the State Association of Food Industry Maksat Annanepesov, Chairman of the Board of the Rysgal Commercial Bank, Member of Mejlis, Bekmyrat Atalyev; Chairman of Mary region committee of the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan, Durdygylych Orazov were registered as presidential candidates.
All presidential candidates are promised to be provided equal opportunities for meeting with voters, in local media.
The voter lists are being updated in all precincts of the country.
In accordance with the revised Constitution of Turkmenistan adopted on 14 September 2016, the presidential term was extended from 5 to 7 years. The age limit of 70 years for presidential candidates was removed.
