Plant on extracting iodine from associated waters in oil deposits is under construction in Okarem Energy
IIKSS - A plant on extracting iodine from associated waters in oil deposits is under construction in Okarem. The equipment purchased by the “Dovletgurlushik” Company in the Islamic Republic of Iran will be delivered to the construction site in the nearest future.
A simplified and less labor-consuming air-stripping method was chosen to treat industrial waters containing chemically reactive nonmetal, belonging to the group of halogens. It allows computerizing the process and ensures the high quality of products. The machine capacity will make it possible to produce up to 100 tons of crystals per year.
This method of production of a chemical element is widely used in Japan and the CIS countries.
Chemical element is widely used in criminology, for refining (purification from impurities) metals and alloys. Iodine is used in light sources - halogen and metal halide lamps, in battery production, super-power gas lasers, in the electronic industry, in the production of high-quality tires.
Turkmenistan currently ranks the fifth in the world in production of iodine – the country produces 500-520 tons of valuable raw materials each year. The Okareme plant is the sixth enterprise of this type in our country. It is planned to increase iodine production up to 1,000 tons per year.
