UNDP, Iran’s Labor Ministry to begin fresh round of coop. Political and military events
TEHRAN, Jul. 02 (MNA) – UNDP deputy representative in Tehran met with Iranian deputy labor minister calling for a new round of cooperation between the two sides.
The ex-Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Iran Balasubramaniam Murali, who has accomplished his mission, as well as his successor Anne Marie Sloth Carlsen met and talked with Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Mohammad Taghi Hosseini in Tehran.
Murali pointed to the program’s pivotal aims like reducing poverty, improving the environment, promoting health, combating inequality and providing expert assistance focused on economic growth saying “the Iranian Labor Ministry holds a prominent role in all these issues turning the cooperation between the two sides into a serious and strategic partnership.”
He also presented a report on the measures taken as well as the ones being pursued by the UNDP adding “Iran’s attention to the aforementioned issues is admirable which can be used as a model for other countries as well as to provide grounds for expansion of South-South Cooperation.”
He deemed the coming decade as a very significant one for Iran who will be able to play a key role in the international arena.
Later in the meeting, Ms. Carlsen introduced herself to the Iranian official adding that UNDP has taken up the serious moto of 'Empowered Lives – Resilient Nations'.
She further expressed willingness to take all energy and initiative in order to enhance cooperation between UNDP’s respective organizations and the Islamic Republic of Iran as a large and important country.
Deputy Labor Minister Hosseini, for his part, thanked Murali for his presence in Tehran underlining “during your office, great collaborations between the ministry and the UNDP were founded and effective measures were taken.”
The official also welcomed Ms. Carlsen wishing her success during the new mission; “like in the past, our approach is to support you and we hope that your arrival will bring a new spirit to the ties.”
Hosseini also described the features of his ministry for boosting ties with international institutions concluding “fortunately, Iran’s Labor Ministry possesses facilities and grounds for collaboration with UNDP.”
