Iran emphasizes regional, int'l cooperation to protect marine environment
Marine Environment Deputy of the Environmental Protection Organization said that Iran emphasizes regional and international cooperation to protect marine environment of the Caspian Sea, Persian Gulf and Oman Sea.
Parvin Farshchi and Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Kitack Lim in a visit in London emphasized developing ties between Tehran and IMO.
Expressing Iran's readiness to hold regional and national courses, she invited Kitack Lim to visit Iran to develop ties.
Referring to Iran's geographical position especially in maritime field, Lim said that Iran is a strategic and geopolitically important country in the Middle East and IMO's cooperation especially in the Caspian Sea's environmental issues is of importance.
Lim reiterated that after consulting with technical department of IMO, developmental programs for Iran to promote technical and practical knowledge related to international maritime conventions will be considered.
69th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee was held on April 18-22 in International Maritime Organization.
