Kazakhstan and France mark 10 years of strategic cooperation. France is the first European country that signed a partnership agreement with Kazakhstan. Today, the countries established cooperation in various fields. The mutual trade surpassed the US$3 billion in 2017, which is 38 per cent higher compared to 2016. France is one of the top five largest investors in Kazakhstan’s economy with capital investments exceeding US$13 billion.
PHILIPPE MARTINET, FRENCH AMBASSADOR TO KAZAKHSTAN:
- Our main trading products include oil, uranium and conventional energy. We want to develop new areas of cooperation. We know that there are opportunities to work in the field of agriculture in Kazakhstan. We also want to attract new investments from China.
There are currently about 130 companies in Astana that are funded by France. In the future, the Kazakh and French companies plan to cooperate in the fields of new technologies and startups as well as launch joint projects as part of the Digital Kazakhstan program.
